Amazon's Irish workforce is to reach 5,000 over the next two years.
It's after the tech giant announced 1,000 new jobs this morning. The announcement is seen as a welcome boost to the Irish economy at a time where jobs are being lost as a result of COVID-19.
The 1,000 new positions, which will be spread out over the next two years, are predominantly with Amazon Web Services.
Taoiseach Micheal Martin says the announcement represents a "further vote of confidence" in the Irish workforce. The jobs will be based across Amazon's sites in Dublin and Cork, but it's not clear what the full break down is yet.
It's the latest investment by the company, which will open a 170,000 square foot campus in Charlemont Square in Dublin in 2022. Amazon is also developing a project the Esk Wind Farm in Cork.
