Justin Bieber's pet monkey "still has issues" five years after the singer abandoned him in Germany.

According to the zoo where OG Mally now lives, the Capuchin monkey is still struggling.

A representative for Serengeti Wildlife Park in Hodenhagen told babe.net that Mally is healthy and seems to be happy in his new home, but displays signs of developmental damage:

"He still has issues speaking the capuchin language. He still tries to imitate human speech. He sometimes makes weird scratchy sounds which are not typical for capuchins. That’s why we think he still tries to talk to humans....He was taken away from his mother and natural family way too early. He did not learn to be a monkey."

German customs officials seized Mally in March 2013 after Justin brought him to Munich on a private plane without the proper paperwork. The star had no vaccination records or proof of purchase for his pet. Justin failed to provide documents that would allow him to retrieve Mally, and so he never returned to collect him.

More recently, Chris Brown also had a pet Capuchin monkey seized from him. The singer was slated by fans after posting an Instagram video of his 3 year old daughter cuddling the monkey last month. California Fish and Wildlife agents have confirmed they've seized the Capuchin, called Fiji, from Chris' home. It's illegal in the state of California to have a monkey without a permit. The 28 year old could be facing a six months in jail for possessing the primate.
