Dolores O'Riordan herself was due to record vocals for the cover on the day she passed away
A cover of iconic Cranberries protest song, Zombie, has been topping charts worldwide since it's release late last month.
The new version comes from US metal band, Bad Wolves, who were set to collaborate with the late Dolores O'Riordan herself on the track.
However, O'Riordan sadly passed away on the day she was scheduled to reprise her vocals for the cover.
So as a tribute to the Limerick singer, they shared their version of the song via YouTube on February 22nd.
Where it's since been viewed over seven million times.
Not only that, but it's managed to top 23 charts across 16 countries, while also taking number-Three spot on Spotify's Global Top 50.
Originally recorded as a protest to the 1993 Warrington bombing by the IRA, the updated version changes some of O'Riordan's original lyrics to fit the current global climate.
Speaking about the iconic tune, Tommy Vext of Bad Wolves said:
''Her lyrics, confronting the collateral damage of political unrest capture the same sentiment we want to express a quarter-century later.''
That is a testament to the kind of enduring artist Dolores was, and will remain forever.''
Although O'Riordan tragically never recorded her vocals, the band says she described their cover as "killer."
