The band's final album is due out in April.
The Cranberries have shared the first single from their new album, In The End, a year to the day since lead singer Dolores O'Riordan passed away.
The track, All Over Now, features Dolores' vocals.
The Limerick band started their eight album while on tour in May 2017, and by winter of that year they had written and demoed eleven songs.
However, tragedy struck on January 15th, 2018 when Dolores unexpectedly passed away at the age of 46.
It's now, a year on, that The Cranberries have decided to release the record. Noel said he, Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler wanted to honour and celebrate their close friend and collaborator by completing the record:
"We knew this had to be one of the, if not the, best Cranberries album that we could possibly do. The worry was that we would destroy the legacy of the band by making an album that wasn’t up to standard. Once we had gone through all the demos that Dolores and I had worked on and decided that we had such a strong album we knew it would be the right thing and the best way that we could honour Dolores."
Dolores' mother Eileen O'Riordan said the single release and forthcoming album is "a fitting way to commemorate the first anniversary of Dolores’ passing":
"I miss her awfully, specially today, as does the entire family. That said I can’t think of a more fitting way to commemorate the first anniversary of her passing and to celebrate her life than to announce to the world the release of her final album with the band. She was very excited about this new album and was really looking forward to its release. I have no doubt that she is happy now and would be delighted with today’s announcement."
In The End is due out April 26th.
