The memoir describes Mariah's troubled relationship with her older sister.
The singer talks about growing up neglected as a child of divorce.
She goes on to describe her sister Alison as "deeply wounded" and "the most brilliant and broken person I have ever known."
However, following the publication, Alison has sued her famous sibling for "emotional distress".
She wants at least $1.25 million for "the infliction of immense emotional distress caused by defendant’s heartless, vicious, vindictive, despicable and totally unnecessary public humiliation of defendant’s already profoundly damaged older sister."
The suit goes on to claim that Mariah "used her book to humiliate and embarrass [Alison] as stories about the memoir appeared in newspapers around the world, on TV and across the Internet".
