iRadio General Manager Mark Cunning says, "I’m really pleased with the growth we’ve seen in the past 12 months. iRadio have added just under 10,000 new weekly listeners since this time last year and we’ve seen some huge growth in on our daytime shows. iRadio has been in a period of transition for the last year, the guys on air are having to work harder than ever before and today’s book shows that the hard work has paid off.
We’ve been really pushing ourselves in 2018; from Kodaline live in Galway, our partnership with Retro Drive In Movies, having to cope with the return of The iRadio Thief and putting the finishing touches to some big plans we have between now and the end of the year, including an exclusive album launch party with Gavin James in Galway next Wednesday, it’s been a busy year but we’re reaping the reward.
We’re in unique position in Ireland where radio is going from strength to strength and internationally we’re bucking the trend with young people trusting radio for new music, news and conversation that’s relevant to them; our job is to continue to ensure that we’re talking to our listeners, never at them.
In short, it’s another great book for iRadio and I’m delighted for the team here because it’s an acknowledgement of effort they put in to making iRadio so much more than just a radio station and a massive thank you to the 390,000 people who choose iRadio."
With a sample size of more than 16,000 people, the JNLR is the most robust research conducted in Ireland and the results cannot be disputed with. The latest JNLR figures released today confirming the popularity of radio in Ireland with 82% of the population tuning in every day. This translates into weekday figures of 3.1 million listeners.
