Until Brian Deady's "Clap Both My Hands" was released, he was pretty much a well-kept Irish secret.

His single became one of the most played Irish songs of the year and went on to reach number one in the Spotify U.K Viral charts.

Not bad, eh? Well, his single "Get on My Knees" also features in the hit American TV Show "Lucifer".

The Corkman is back with a new album called "Black Diamond" which is now on tour.

The lead single is called "9 cents and 2 Dollars" and it's currently racing up the Shazam Charts.

“I went to the desert in southern Spain in May and moved into an amazing cave house and started writing and recording this album", Brian says.

"It was supposed to take 3 weeks... it took 4 months and it was an incredible experience - being in that setting really inspired me”, he added.

“9 cents and 2 Dollars is all about recognising the good things you have in life, despite it’s struggles and setbacks, to me it’s saying - yeah I just checked my bank account and there’s this bill and that bill but I still have great things in my life which have real value and I can still do some good”
“That’s the best bad new I’ve heard all day!”

Conjuring up strong gospel influences, at times the Irishman sounds more like he was raised in the Deep South than as one of 10 kids in Cork.

His rich, soulful voice comes with a contemporary R&B edge.

Hear ‘9 cents and 2 Dollars’ each morning this week on iWork with Emma Nolan at approx. 10.35am, and again on IRL with Michaela Hayes at approx 7.35pm.
