Don't worry if you don't have Ed Sheeran tickets for his Galway gigs this weekend, an Ed Sheeran festival is taking place in the city.

Ed Fest, the first event of its kind in Ireland and quite possibly the world, is kicking off in The Latin Quarter on Thursday, May 10th.

The festival coincides with the singer-songwriter’s dates in Pearse Stadium.

60,000 fans will descend on Galway for the two gigs on Saturday and Sunday.

Highlights of Ed Fest include Ed Sheeran DJ sets and tribute acts, buskers on the streets playing Ed’s songs and an Ed Sheeran look-alike competition.

There will also be Ed-themed shop fronts and window displays, and Ed-inspired food and drinks in the bar and restaurants of the cultural heart of the city.

Garry and Fionnuala of The Lift chatted to Aislinn O'Driscoll, Chairperson of The Latin Quarter, about painting the town Ed this weekend.
