It has been dubbed the 'new Game Of Thrones' and it hits our screens on Sky Atlantic tonight at 9pm. It's from the powerhouse of epic series creators HBO, and stars none other than Anthony Hopkins! Other cast members include Ed Harris(The Truman Show/The Rock/Apollo 13), Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden and Thandie Newton.
“Westworld” is the name of a Western theme park populated by robots who play all kinds of characters you'd find in a typical Western: bandits, saloon keepers, lawmen, prostitutes. It has been described as “Jurassic Park” with robot cowboys instead of dinosaurs. The show is based on the 1973 sci fi movie of the same name.
TheWrap explains: Humans pay to visit this world, and act out their gunslinger fantasies — and sexual fantasies. And all kinds of other fantasies. They can do whatever they want to the robots — insult them, have sex with them, kill them. The robots can’t hurt them back.
It is produced by JJ Abrams, and some early reviews from highly respected critics are very good. Looks like we know how we're spending the evening! It has a user rating on IMDB of 9.3 out of 10. That is MASSIVE. For perspective, Game of Thrones is 9.5, as is Breaking Bad, with The Sopranos and Sherlock getting 9.2!
