Actor who plays fictional detective stops real-life crime in London.

It's reported that Sherlock start Benedict Cumberbatch rushed to help a cyclist who was being attacked in central London.

Cumberbatch was in an Uber with his wife Sophie Hunter near Baker Street - home of his fictional character - when he spotted a Deliveroo driver being attacked by 4 muggers.

Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Uber driver Manuel Dias described the actor's intervention as 'courageous, brave and selfless', adding 'they tried to hit him but he defended himself and pushed them away. He wasn’t injured. Then I think they also recognised it was Benedict and ran away.'

When asked about the attack by The Sun, the actor downplayed the incident saying 'I did it out of, well, I had to, you know . . .'
