A Big Win For The Band Behind One Of The Biggest 90s Hits

Bittersweet Symphony has been at the centre of a battle for years.

The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft has regained rights to his song "Bitter Sweet Symphony" after more than two decades.

They have been returned by The Rolling Stones stars Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and it means Richard will get all future royalties from the hugely popular song.

The issue originally arose over part of the song that's sampled from an orchestral recording of the Rolling Stones song The Last Time.

It's been a good day for Richard Ashcroft - as well as getting the rights back he's picked up an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music!
