iRadio is inviting applications for the position of part-time Broadcast Journalist. The role will combine newsreading and online content creation on weekends, bank holidays and weekday cover, as well as producing iRadio’s The Hub on Mondays.

On weekends, bank holidays and weekday cover the successful applicant will be responsible for putting together hourly news and sport bulletins, sourcing appropriate stories for on air and online and contributing to iRadio’s social media channels.

On Mondays, the producer role will involve sourcing engaging and relevant content for The Hub, arranging interviews, preparing briefs and otherwise assisting the presenter Louise Clarke.

When hiring for this role we’re looking to find someone with:

-A confident and fluent news-reading style.

-A strong knowledge of and interest in current affairs and sport.

-The ability to write clear and concise news scripts as well as more detailed online content.

-The ability to work to tight deadlines and excellent time-management skills.

-The desire to work on own initiative, source appropriate stories for iRadio listeners and deliver them in an engaging manner.

Knowledge of Burli, WordPress and Adobe Audition is highly desirable but not essential as training will be provided, while having a full clean driving licence and access to your own car is also highly desirable.

The role is based in the iRadio studio in Monksland, Athlone, Co. Roscommon.
