A Kerry TD says the Government has lost rural Ireland and will be wiped out in the next general election.

In a recent Sunday Independent opinion poll Sinn Fein remained the most popular party.

The opposition party was on 36 per cent, Fine Gael on 21 per cent, Fianna Fáil dropped to 16 per cent, while coalition partner the Green Party is on 2 per cent.

Speaking in the Dail today, Michael Healy Rae says many people at the Ploughing Championships yesterday told him they’d never vote for the Government parties again:

“You would not be happy if you know what they said about you, about Fianna Fail and Fine Gael yesterday at the National Ploughing Championships. I can tell you Fianna Fail have lost rural Ireland, Fine Gael have lost rural Ireland and you never had it to lose it.”
