Materials for DIY face masks, gym equipment and tequila are some of the most popular items sold online during the lockdown.
According to a new survey, people have been baking more, recreating their favourite take-aways and becoming their own bartender.
The research by John Lewis and Waitrose showed that materials for making DIY facemasks have increased by over 1000%. Gym gear and yoga mats have increased by over 300% and landline phones by 80%.
In terms of groceries, 50% of Irish people bought baking supplies in the last four weeks, with flour up 52% according to Kantar. Shoppers trying to recreate their favourite takeaway dishes have also boosted sales of ethnic ingredients by 41% and herbs and spices by 61%. Meanwhile, the sale of alcohol in Ireland has increased by 70% during the lockdown.
