Brilliant idea!

A jiving instructor from Donegal has gone viral for his innovative 'Social Dist-dancing' challenge.

Declan Gavigan, the owner of ‘Get Up And Jive’, told Aidan and Oonagh In The Morning this week about how his business was affected by the current Covid-19 pandemic.

Social distancing measures mean Declan’s students can no longer attend his jive classes in person. With this in mind, Declan adapted his approach to get his students (and the general public) jiving and moving their way through these strange times.

He set up a challenge to keep people entertained and encourage everyone to continue jiving and get active while also maintaining the social distancing protocol.

This is where the Social Dist-DANCING Jive Challenge was born.

Declan's urging people who are self-isolation together to get up and jive whilst two metres apart. He posted his own example on his Facebook page which has since received almost one million views:

So far, people from across Ireland and around the world have sent in their Social Dist-dancing videos to Declan and anyone who wants to take part in the challenge, can see what it's all about over on his Facebook page.
