But WHO is behind it?
First the chain, now his email.
Good news for anyone obsessed with Connell from Normal People. If you send him an email, there's a good chance you'll get a response.
If you're one of those people who's already binged watched the entire series, you may have noticed Connell's email address pop up on screen during the sixth episode. When Paul Mescal's character gets an email from Trinity, you can spot in the recipient box, that the character's email address is [email protected].
Now, some super fans of the show have tried emailing that address and have actually gotten responses.
While the email address is highly unlikely to be manned by Paul Mescal or anyone from the show, the mystery responder has played along with the fans who've gotten in touch.
One Twitter user, Travis Smith, emailed him about his communication issues:
A story for #NormalPeople fans– like the much of internet, I was feeling a little frustrated with Connell and his communication style, so when his email appeared on screen in Ep. 6, I shot him a quick note . . . AND HE WROTE BACK pic.twitter.com/yba3IuRFI9

The email address responded to him, playing along as Connell from Normal People. It read:
"Hi Travis, thanks for your email mate"
"You're right, I've been a right idiot with Marianne. I feel like I keep making the same mistake over and over, but I don't trust myself not to hurt her again and I don't feel in control of my emotions."
"I don't know what will happen with us now. I never thought I'd be the one to move to New York and she'd still be back home in Sligo. But I think about her all the time and I don't know if I can ever feel at home here."
"I try to focus on my writing, but I always end up thinking about Marianne. We talk sometimes but I've never felt further from her. Thank you for your email, it meant a lot."
Another Twitter user has also received correspondence from Connell, this time on the hot topic of his silver chain:
Impeccable response time on my end, though pic.twitter.com/sNcTCLhMgl
