The SD National Conference gets underway this weekend.

As people continue to struggle with the cost of living, there are calls for an emergency budget.

It comes as the National Conference gets underway this weekend.

The Social Democrats are ramping up the pressure on the government to introduce an emergency budget.

The party says the measure is needed to provide some relief to those struggling to put food on the table and pay their bills.

The cost of housing and Sláintecare reforms will also be central to the weekend discussions.

Co-leader of the party Catherine Murphy says the government has to act to help struggling families put food on the table.

“People are struggling and are worried about going into the autumn, heating their homes, feeding their family and all of those things will be an even bigger challenge,” she said.
