An alternative version to Dublin city council’s plans for a lido in the heart of the city has seen new images revealed.
The George’s Dock Lido Campaign says the council’s proposals for an outdoor swimming pool, which includes a swift water training course, is trying to do too much.
The group’s plan includes a 50-metre heated pool saunas, water gardens, function rooms and a restaurant at the site, which was originally earmarked for a white-water rafting facility.
Patrick Earls from the campaign group says the entire space should be a public amenity.
And as for the fabled rafting centre that cause huge public backlash:
“The campaign has always voiced very strong support for emergency service training facilities. We have suggested what we feel are a number of more appropriate sites, including the unused dock as Asgard Custom House harbour, sites at Dublin Port and sites along the Royal and Grand Canal Docks.”
