If you didn’t pay into Dublin’s New Year Celebration gig to ring in 2023, you were probably left disappointed for what the city had in store.
New Year’s Celebrations in Dublin have been branded ‘disappointing’ and ‘a sad reflection of the Capital’, by one city heritage organisation.
In a social media post, Dublin Civic Trust highlighted the fact there were no public fireworks, and bridges were closed due to a ticketed event on the docklands.

The group – which usually works to raise awareness about Dublin’s architecture – took issue with the fact the celebrations were not free to the public.
It has called for future events in the capital to be ‘proper civic, shared experiences’.
