Over 600 people are in hospital with Covid, an increase of over 200 in one week.

A triple wave of viruses has resulted in the healthcare system being under extreme pressure.

We're being urged to wear masks in busy settings and when on public transport over the Christmas period.

The advice comes as infections and hospitalisations increase with three different viruses circulating across the country.

There are 600 people in the hospital with Covid, 300 patients have the flu and 250 children are in hospital with RSV.

The uptick in hospitalisations is adding pressure to an already under pressure health service.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation says 2022 is officially the worst year for hospital overcrowding on record.

624 patients are without a bed in Irish hospitals today.
