Melvin Benn of Festival Republic described the CMO's comments as a "fantastic surprise"
Laois County Council is being urged to immediately reverse its decision to refuse permission for this years Electric Picnic.
The call from organisers came after Tony Holohan said NPHET would have no objection to the event going ahead.
Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Medical Officer said there was no "major concern", if it was for vaccinated ticket holders only.
When asked if concerts such as Electric Picnic could go ahead just for vaccinated people, Dr Holohan said: "We wouldn't have a concern from a public health point of view if everyone is vaccinated."

Festival Republic want to know today if it can proceed.
EP Organiser Melvin Benn said:
"As far as I'm concerned and as far as Dr Holohan's concerned it, we absolutely can (go ahead with this year's event)."
"We're calling on Laois County Council to reverse the decision.

The entire premise of why they said the festival couldn't go-ahead has been overruled by Tony Holohan.
He was very clear about it."
Electric Picnic organisers are (rightfully) pushing for it still to go ahead for vaccinated ticket holders.
