The process of issuing the Digital COVID Cert has got under way this week.
People who have recovered from COVID-19 will have to apply for their Digital COVID Cert.
Those who are vaccinated are automatically being sent the document, which will allow entry for indoor dining, as well as facilitate international travel.
E-mails should be issued by Thursday for people who attended mass vaccination centres, while those who attended a GP, pharmacy or hospital will get their certs in the post.
However Liz Canavan from the Department of the Taoiseach has confirmed that patients who have recovered from the virus must make a request for the cert:
"In relation to recovery certificates we're going to operate on a pull basis, so you'll have to request them.
"What we are saying is, that service will be available from a fully functional call centre which will be set up from the 19th [of July]. So we will not be able to take those requests in advance of that."
