Over 40% of people working from home doing longer hours, study finds

A survey conducted by e-recruitment platform, IrishJobs.ie has revealed that reveals that 9 in 10 employees (90%) are now working from due to Covid-19.

The research, which questioned 877 Irish employees also found that over four in 10 (44%) of those working from home are doing longer hours than when they were in the office.

21% of those who said they were working more than usual said they find that they cannot switch off from work, while 12% feel they are working less efficiently and 11% say they have even more work than usual.

While 51% of people claimed family and household matters frequently interrupted their work day and 22% say they are balancing their job with home-schooling their children.

Almost all respondents, 94% say they are taking a break, with 70% using that time to prepare food, 46% getting some fresh air and 34% spending time with others in their household.
