''They believe now that they are winning this war against coronavirus little by little''
The pace of Spain's coronavirus death rate has slowed for a fourth day in a row, figures have revealed.
The country has recorded another 637 deaths from the virus, taking the total above 13-thousand.
Spain has the second-highest death figure in the world after Italy, which has recorded more than 15-thousand.
"We are preparing ourselves for de-escalation for which it is important to know who is contaminated to be able to gradually lift Spanish citizens' lockdown," Foreign Minister Arancha Gonzalez was quoted by Reuters as telling television station Antena 3.
Sky reporter Alex Rossi,who is based in Madrid said doctors there are cautiously optimistic.
''They believe now that they are winning this war against coronavirus little by little'', he said.
''They described it, when it hit as a tsunami, literally overwhelming the health care system.''
Spanish officials say they plan to widen coronavirus testing to include those without symptoms.
In Ireland, there have been almost five-thousand confirmed cases of the virus here and 158 people have lost their lives.
While globally there have been more than 1.2 million confirmed cases resulting in over 70,000 deaths thus far.
