One woman has gone viral for sharing how she makes face masks out of a sock.

Safia Aggoune, who lives in Amsterdam, shared the simple method on TikTok and has already gotten over 230,000 views and 10,500 likes. The dancer and mother shared the easy method which involves no sewing whatsoever - just a scissors and a sock is all you'll need.

Here's her method:

1. Hold a sock upside down and cut off half of the foot section.

2. Making sure you have an even space from the heel to both ends of the sock, cut it open down the middle.

3. Fold it open flat. It should form a rectangle with the heel of the sock area in the centre.

4. Make two small incisions with a scissor, about 2cm from both sides.

5. Use the slits you've made to secure the mask around your ears.

Here it is in video form:

Her nifty sock mask could come in handy as we enter the first phase of easing restrictions here in Ireland.

The latest government advice is to wear a cloth face mask in situations where it's trickier to practice social distancing, like in shops or on busy public transport. Check out the government's short video on how to safely wear your face mask or find more information over on their website.
