A ban on mass gatherings until August or even September would mean the cancellation of all the summers gigs, music festivals and possibly events like the National Ploughing Championship.
While major sports fixtures would also be postponed.
Health Minister Simon Harris has previously warned that it's "highly unlikely we're going to be seeing very large kind of mass gatherings this year".
Mass gatherings of people have been restricted since March 12th when Taoiseach Leo Varadkar announced indoor gatherings of more than 100 people should be cancelled and outdoor gatherings of more than 500 people should be cancelled.
Far stricter measures have been introduced since then.
