'Live at the Drive In' plans to kick off on July 20th.
With festivals and concerts cancelled because of the coronavirus, a new way of putting on gigs will begin in July.
'Live at the Drive-In' will host a series of concerts across Ireland that will see artists performing to people in their cars. Dublin singer Gavin James is the first to be announced, with tickets on sale on Friday morning.
The first gig is scheduled to take place on July 20th and will travel to cities such as Limerick, Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny.
Organisers say they'll be adhering to government health and safety regulations throughout and their aim is to provide safe entertainment for people of all ages.
Sites will be able to accommodate around 250 to 300 cars at a time and they plan to put on two shows a day - a matinee set at around 4pm and an evening show starting at approximately 8pm. Other artists are set to be announced over the coming weeks.
Mark Dunne of 360 Management is one of the organisers and says that social distancing meant the music industry had to think outside the box:
“We were driven not to give up so we started to explore every possible avenue in order to bring a live experience to music fans across the country. We know we have something we ourselves would buy a ticket for and would feel safe attending.”
Live at the Drive In is subject to government guidelines and organisers say that social distancing will be enforced throughout.
Tickets go on sale on Friday and you can find out more over on their website or Facebook page.
