A further 59 people have died from Covid-19 in the Republic today

1159 people have now lost their lives in Ireland during the pandemic.

There have been a further 59 deaths from Covid-19 in the Republic today, the Department of Health has said.

Meanwhile 299 new cases have also been confirmed.

It brings the death toll to 1159 and the number of confirmed cases stands at 19,877.

A total of 153,054 tests have now been carried out.
