Over one in four Irish adults say when they drink, they do so to excess.

New research from Drinkaware has shown that 27 percent of people here engage in binge drinking when they have alcohol.

Binge drinking is defined as having six standard drinks which is the equivalent of three cans of lager or 600 millilitres of wine.

For the third year in a row, over half of Irish adults’ admitted to drinking alcohol on “at least a weekly basis” while there’s been a 5 percent drop in the number of people who don’t drink compared to before the pandemic.
