A post-mortem examination is expected to take place today on the body of stabbing victim Thomas Dooley.

He died after being attacked while attending a funeral at Rath Cemetery in Tralee yesterday.

His wife, Siobhán, is still being treated in University Hospital Kerry with non life threatening injuries.

The man was arrested in the early hours of this morning, in Cork and is currently being detained at Tralee Garda Station.

Kerry journalist, Anne Lucey, says the cemetery has a history of violence.

‘Rath cemetery has been the scene of a number of violent incidents in recent years and large quantities of weapons including slash hooks were recovered from there in 2014 and the Gardai actually prevented a major violent incidence on that occasion.’
