That’s over double the amount of people heading to Electric Picnic this summer
There are a lot of numbers flying around today – but here’s the big one.
That’s how many people are tuning into iRadio every. Single. Day!
That means the people that listen to iRadio every day could fill Croke park two times over. AND it’s 143,956 MORE people than the entire population of Leitrim!
It’s 2.5 times the amount of people heading to Electric Picnic this summer and 156,000 more people than went to see Joe Biden in Ballina.
The JNLR report, shows 91% of Irish adults and 87% of 15–34-year-olds listen to radio every week (covering the period April ‘22 to March ‘23).
There’s also a steady increase of listening through devices with 5.6% of all adult listening now through a smart speaker while listening via a mobile device accounts for 3.3% of all radio listening.
iRadio CEO Mark Cunning has welcomed the latest stats – saying it’s an exciting time to work in audio:
“This is an exciting time to work in audio as new competition, from new places, challenges us to strive to be better. Radio listening in Ireland is in a great place.
“One of big success stories in this book for iRadio is our breakfast show with Cooper & Oonagh, and producer Ciarán, who have 11,000 more listeners tuning in every morning compared to the same period last year.”
The JNLR release shows the ability to access content easily and the quality and popularity of Irish radio as the average adult is listening to radio content for over 4.2 hours each day. .
Ciaran Cunningham CEO Radiocentre Ireland said:
“I am delighted to see radio continues to grow audience in Ireland and with 91% of adults tuning into radio every week, it is clear that radio listening is booming in Ireland and today’s figures are a great reminder that Irish radio is a central part of people’s lives.”
